Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor has branded the critics calling for his head in the wake of their 60-6 flogging at the hands of Canberra short-sighted.

Taylor is on thin ice after his side were blown off the park in what was their sixth NRL loss in a row, with former Tigers playmaker Braith Anasta declaring Taylor had lost the playing group long ago.

Taylor said he believed his job was safe and pointed to what he described as a number of performances "full of great character" as reasons why criticism was unwarranted.
